People think if you have a deeper skin tone that you’re automatically protected from the sun. Even the deepest skin tones can burn. These complexions can also experience unevenness and acne flare-ups. We recommend all skin tones use SPF 30 sunblock to protect your skin from the sun. We love the summer and all that comes with it, but we love our skin even more! We here at Vovi, have come up with our top three tips that will keep your skin summertime fine:

INVEST IN A GOOD CLEANSER

It’s hotter these days and that means you’re going to sweat more. We recommend using our Deep Pore Cleanser as part of your regimen. Our cleanser will help you maintain clean and glowing skin without stripping it of its moisture.

MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!

With all the sweating going on during the summer months, you must maintain your skin’s moisture throughout the summer. Using our Complexion Milk will help your skin stay moisturized and keep your skin tone even.

LATHER UP WITH OIL

It’s not just about keeping your face moisturized. The rest of your body needs to be moisturized as well. Give our hand and body oil a try. We recommend using it all over the body to maintain suppleness and softness. Prepare to turn heads with your glowing skin!

Follow these tips and we promise you Summer 2019 will get the best skin you have to offer!

We all love the summer-swimming, barbecues and great weather, it’s one of the best times of the year! As much as we want to get that summer melanin popping, haircare is extremely important during the summer months. We here at Vovi, want to share some tips that have worked for us over the years.

#1 Wear a hat

As simple as that may sound, lots of us choose not to wear hats. If you’re going to be outside for an extended time, cover your hair up. The sun is very damaging to those lovely locks of yours.

#2 Wear a scarf/headwear

If hats aren’t your thing, opt for a stylish headwrap/scarf. People will think you are wearing the latest trend but you’re actually protecting your healthy hair. This is very important, trust us, your hair will thank you later.

#3 Cleanse/Moisturize

If you are swimming a lot, make sure you cleanse/condition/moisturize. If you’re in a community pool or ocean water, cleansing your hair afterwards is essential to stop breakage.

#4 Protective Styles

If you don’t feel like maintaining your natural hair, try: box braids, faux locs, buns, cornrows or twists. Make sure to use a satin bonnet at night to protect your hair.

It’s a simple but strong message. It’s very important to remember that what you put out, is what you’ll get back. Being angry, or bitter, or whatever other negative emotion you’re feeling and portraying is only going to lead to the same negative energy coming back at you. Try not to let your emotions get in the way of how you deal with problems. This not only leads to more positive interactions, but you will start to feel better and begin to have a positive outlook.

Here’s another way to look at things, treat the world as you want the world to treat you. You want to be a successful boss and kill it at everything you do? Then work hard, push boundaries, and don’t stop trying. You want to be well-regarded, well-respected, and admired? Then be genuine, be real, and keep to your own business. All in all, you get what you give, so make sure everything you do and everything you say brings you a little closer to who you want yourself to be.

Whatever this quote says to you, try keep it in your mind this week and remember it at times when you may not feel at your best. The power of positivity is real, you just first have to be it to see it.

It’s so simple…we are able to walk, talk, live and breathe, life is good! It’s great to be alive!

We all have many things to be thankful for, although sometimes we can’t remember them. It’s easy to get caught up in the world of bills, jobs, stress, you know all the tough things in life.

We should always remember how great it is just to be alive! Always remember the simple, small things because they are the one of life’s great joys. If you seem to always look at your situation in a negative light, try something new today and see the good. Once you start to think positive and realize that you are blessed no matter how rough your situation is, life will get better, we promise!

Take time out of your day to write a list of reasons that you’re grateful. Be thankful and realize that life is good!

Have you ever said, “I’ll never do that again,” only to find yourself doing the exact same thing? If so, you’re not alone. All of us have repeated some of our mistakes at one time or another.

But making the same mistakes over and over can be costly in more ways than one. The good news is, you can take steps to learn from your mistakes. Then, instead of repeating them again, you’ll gain valuable wisdom that will help you in the future.

Here are five ways to learn from your mistakes:

1. Recognize Your Errors

Before you can learn from your mistakes, you have to accept full responsibility for your role in the outcome. That can be uncomfortable sometimes, but until you can say, “I messed up,” you aren’t ready to change.

2. Ask Yourself Hard Questions

Reflect on the situation and ask yourself:

• What went wrong?

• What could I do better next time?

• What did I learn from this?

Write down your responses and you’ll see the situation a little more clearly.

3. Create A Plan

Beating yourself up for your mistakes won’t help you down the road. It’s important to realize how you can do better in the future.

Make a plan that will help you avoid making a similar mistake. Be as detailed as possible but remain flexible since your plan may need to change.

Whether you find an accountability partner or you track your progress on a calendar, find a way to hold yourself accountable.

4. Find Ways To Make It Harder To Mess Up

Don’t depend on willpower alone to prevent you from making the mistake again.

5. Make A List Of Why You Don’t Want To Make The Mistake Again

Sometimes, it only takes one weak moment to indulge in something you shouldn’t. Creating a list of all the reasons why you should stay on track could help you stay self-disciplined, even during the toughest times.

Move Forward With Your New-Found Wisdom

Sometimes, mistakes aren’t just one big blunder. Instead, they’re a series of little choices that lead to failure.  Pay attention to your errors, no matter how big or how small they might seem. And recognize that each mistake can be an opportunity to become better.

Stop, take a moment and look around you. There are lots of things and situations that need to change. If you are like a lot of people, you feel powerless to do anything about any of it.

You are not powerless! You can make a difference.

Believe that you have a ton of power to create change, and you can do so anytime YOU want.

You have the power to change your own life, other people’s lives, your community, in an organization, and plenty of other places.

You can create change with a smile, a book, or just a random act of kindness. You can do it by loving and by forgiving.

You can make your difference feeding the homeless or donating your time at your church.

There are other ways to make a difference—even a small difference.

You can change how someone feels with just a smile. That’s power.

And you can change your life in an instant. Try changing your attitude from negative to positive. Try walking every evening rather than sitting in front of a computer all day and then in front of the television all night. Decide to eat a different diet or get a new job.

You do have personal power. You can affect change in your own life. Even one small difference can cause a change in the lives of those around you.

Begin using that power in ways that make a difference—whether you smile at a stranger, motivate or support a friend, exercise your personal power in ways that make you feel empowered—and that result in a difference in your life, first, and in the world around you, second.

Write down all the different ways you could make a difference. Brainstorm! Come up with some options.

Then choose one option from your list, and do it this week!

Do something that gives you the sense that you can make a difference. Even better, make a difference. Create change with your actions.

Use your power to create positive and meaningful change.

Sometimes it’s difficult to appreciate what you have in your life because you might be looking at what you don’t have. When you can be grateful for the love and abundance in your life right now, you are less likely to be stressed or anxious about what you feel is missing or lacking. This isn’t always easy since the grass can look green on the other side of the fence. When you are concentrating on what’s not happening in your life, or what you don’t have, or are trying to blame or justify why things are as they are, then you miss all the greatness that is already surrounding you and blessing your life.

We can become sidetracked by, or stuck in the wanting, needing, and having, instead of being grateful for what we do have. Sure, things, people, and situations might not be all you thought or expected them to be and here lies the problem, you have put an expectation on them, not an appreciation of them.

Being grateful for what’s in your life doesn’t mean you can’t reach for the stars or your dreams, but don’t overlook the gifts and blessings that are already there, and they are there. Maybe your feeling like, “What do I have to be grateful for?”, and believe me, there will be a period of time in your life where you will struggle with this. Don’t allow other people and situations to take over my life; I didn’t value myself or the light that was within and surrounding me, I could only see the darkness that seemed to be engulfing me.

What I thought would be “greener pastures” turned out to be some pretty rough terrain, and once I made my way through I was able to truly appreciate all I had to let go of and still had in my life.

It’s not the things you own, nor are the things you believe important, that I appreciated, although you should be grateful for what you have left. What should become crystal clear to you are the everyday things you may take for granted, overlook, underestimate, under-appreciate, or minimize.

Always appreciate and love your family and friends. Try to recognize the love and support that surrounds you. Stop and notice the ordinary things. Life is something to be lived and be thankful for. The smallest and biggest things should make you smile; the simplest of things can bring you great joy.

So, don’t wait for tomorrow, or for something to change, or for something or someone better, be grateful for what is in your life right now, this very moment.

When you appreciate all that you have, life becomes more alive, vibrant, and expanded.

How can things not look and feel brighter when you are in the space of true gratitude?  Blessings are in your life every day. Even if you temporarily lose sight of them, they are there waiting for you to embrace them.

Appreciate the good that already exists in your life and anticipate the miracles and magic that is to come.

What is one thing you appreciate in your life? If you don’t already, begin today to write down what you are grateful for. Maybe you can only think of one thing; that’s okay, in time you will be filling the page.

We here at Vovi, want your skin looking it’s best for summer ‘19! If you follow these steps for seven days, you should see an improvement in your skin:

Learn Your Skin Type: There are five different types of skin: dry, oily, combination, normal and sensitive. Each type is treated different, so figure out which one you have to get the best skin care routine. Once you know how to treat your skin type, you will learn what Vovi products will help give your skin the perfect glow!

Cleanse: Once you have your skin type, you can use Vovi’s Deep Pore Cleanser to remove excess dirt, oil and makeup. After this you want to pat dry with a towel but be careful not to rub your skin too much. This can cause irritation.

Moisturize: Next you will want to moisturize with Vovi’s Hand & Body Lotion. This step is very important because you can’t achieve that glow unless your skin is soft, supple and moisturized.

Stress Less: We all have bills and families to worry about, but did you know constantly being stressed out takes a big toll on your body and especially your skin? Minimize your stress levels by figuring out ways to relax. Maybe it’s a warm bath with candles or taking a 30-minute walk after a long day…figure out what works best for you and try it out.

Stay Hydrated: You know what they say, drinking 8 glasses of water a day keeps the wrinkles away! But we like the saying, drink 8 glasses of water a day and darling you will slay! We can’t tell you enough how important this step is. Drink up to get that #glowup!

Let us know in the comments how it worked for you!
